उत्तर

Using the relation,

Refractive index = `"Real depth"/"Apparent depth"`

∴ `4/3=("RD")/("RD"-"shift")`

∴ 4(RD - Shift) = 3(RD)

∴ RD = 4 (Shift)

= 4(3)

= 12 mm

Hence, depth of coin in water = 12 mm and length of the image of coin in water

= 12 - 3 = 9 mm.
