About the Institute

The Smt. Bakul Tambat Institute of Nursing Education was started in the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’s expansive campus in Pune in August 2000. The institute is approved by the Indian Nursing Council, Delhi and the Maharashtra Nursing Council. The institute runs a 3 1/2-year Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery course for the benefit of 200 girl students. It started a Bachelor Programme in Nursing from August 2004 for the benefit of 200 students. It started in Jan 2009, M.Sc Nursing programme of 2 years duration in three specialties: Medical – Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing for the benefit of students. It also started a 1 ½ years Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery programme for the benefit of 20 girl students from July 2009. Starting in August 2000 with a batch of students, the institute has acquired a reputation for quality education in a short span of 9 years for 450 girl students.

Ambience

Smt. Bakul Tambat Institute of Nursing Education is encircled by sibling institutions like Manilal Nanavati Vocational Training Centre, Siddhivinayak arts and Commerce College, School of Fashion Technology.  The institute is housed in a clean, spacious and green campus.  Essential facilities like a bank, hostels, health club and post office are housed in the campus itself.

The institute has its own building with spacious classrooms, a counseling centre, a conference room, nursing arts laboratory, community laboratory, nutrition room, and library and staff room.		  
     
 

Collaboration for Clinical Experience

The institute provides clinical experience for its students through collaboration with the Jnana Prabodhini Medical Trust, Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital is 450 bed Multispecialty Hospital with all modern amenities and latest equipment. We have commenced the work of 500 bed superspeciality hospital in the premises and the building will be ready by December 2012. The Hospital also has a good numbar of qualified medical experts. 
For gaining experience in psychiatry and community health, students are posted at specialty hospitals run by the Central Government or approved by the Pune Municipal Corporation.		  
     
 

Teaching Methodology

The Smt. Bakul Tambat Institute of Nursing Education has an experienced and committed faculty comprising full-time and external lecturers.  Doctors from the Jnana Prabodhini Medical Trust take keen interest in teaching in the clinical area.  Cadaver dissections for learning anatomy are arranged at a Homeopathic Medical College.  Techniques like role play, street plays, educational trips and visits to various institutes are used. 
The institute has a spacious nursing arts laboratory with mannequins, models and audiovisual aids imported from Germany and USA.  Students are taught practical procedures in the laboratory and then sent to hospitals under supervision for clinical learning.		  
     
 

Cultural Activities

The cultural cell of the institute, a part of the Student Nurses Association, organizes various co-curricular activities throughout the year.  Every year students organize a college week under an interesting theme and various competitions are held.  Students are encouraged to participate in various intercollegiate competitions like the annual Verve competition organized by the Indian Express Youth Forum.
