Solution

Both Brazil and India have to face the following environmental issues:

  1. Extinction of many species of wild life:
In both countries, there is a significant decline of wild animals. This is mainly due to the illegal smuggling of animals, poaching of endangered species, pollution, etc.
  2. Deforestation:
For shifting agriculture, land under forests is cleared by cutting and burning. On this patch of land, a subsistence type of agriculture is followed for the next few years. Once this land loses fertility, another patch of land which is under the forest is cleared. This increased deforestation has led to the degradation of the environment. For e.g. ‘Roca’ in Brazil and ‘Jhum’ in north-east India has badly affected the environment.
  3. Pollution:
Pollution is the next threat to the environment. It has led to the degradation of the environment.
These environmental issues have not only badly affected the environment but many endemic species are on the verge of getting extinct.
