MCQ

The perimeter of a rectangle is 60 cms. If its length is twice its breadth, then its area is:

• 200 cm2

• 180 cm2

• 160 cm2

• 220 cm2

Solution

The perimeter of a rectangle is 60 cms. If its length is twice its breadth, then its area is: 200 cm2

Explanation:

Let the breadth of the rectangle is b, then the length  of the rectangle is 2b.

Perimeter = 2 (length + breadth)

60 = 2 (2b + b)

6b = 60

6b = 60/6 = 10

Area of the rectangle = length × breadth
= 2b × b = 2b2
= 2 (10)2 = 200 cm2
