This can be written in the form 

 x4 + 4 =` (x^2)^2 + (2)^2 + 2x^2 2.- 4x^2`

` = {(x^2)^2 +2.x^2 . 2+ (2)^2} - (2x)^2`

` = (x^2 +2)^2 - (2x)^2`

` = (x^2 + 2 + 2x)(x^2 +2 -2x)`
