Solution

Force of gravity:

`F = (Gm_1m_2)/r^2`

It is given that r2 = 2r1

`:.F_2/F_1 = r_1^2/r_2^2 = r_1^2/(4r_1^2) = 1/4`

`:. F_2 = 1/4 F_1`

Therefore, the force of gravity is reduced four times.
