# The Base and the Height of a Triangle Are in the Ratio 5 : 3. If the Area of the Triangle is 67.5 M2; Find Its Base and Height. - Mathematics

Sum

The base and the height of a triangle are in the ratio 5 : 3. If the area of the triangle is 67.5 m2; find its base and height.

#### Solution

Let base = 5x m
height = 3x m

Area of Δ = 1/2  "base" xx "height"

∴ 1/2 xx 5x xx 3x = 67.5

x^2 = (67.5 xx 2)/15

x^2 = 4.5 xx 2

x^2 = 9.0

x = sqrt(9)

x = 3

base = 5x = 5 x 3 = 15 m
height = 3x = 3 x 3 = 9 m
