Acids Bases
1.An Acid is a substance which gives H+ ion when dissolved in water . A base is a substance which gives OH- ion when dissolved in water.
2.For example : 
HCl → H+ + Cl-
HCI releases H+ ion , hence it is an acid.
For example : 
NaOH → Na+ + OH-
NaOH release OHion , hence it is a base .
