Solution
The given equations can be written in the matrix form as:
`[(2,6),(1,3)][("x"),("y")]=[(8),(5)]`
This is of the form AXB, where
A = `[(2,6),(1,3)]`, X = `[("x"),("y")]` and B = `[(8),(5)]`
Let us find A−1
|A| = `[(2,6),(1,3)]` = 6 − 6 = 0
∴ A−1 does not exist.
Hence, x and y do not exist.
