Question

Solve the following equations using the formula

`2x^2 + 7x + 5 = 0`

Solution

`2x^2 + 7x + 5 = 0`

Here a = 2, b = 7 and c = 5

Then `x = (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2(a))`

`= (-(7) +- sqrt((7)^2 - 4(2)(5)))/(2(2))`

`= (-7 +- 3)/4 = (-7 + 3)/4 and (-7-3)/4 = -1  "and" -5/2`
