Solution

3x + 12 = 2x − 4

Subtracting 12 from both sides

⇒ 3x + 12 - 12 = 2x - 4 - 12

⇒ 3x = 2x -16

Subtracting 2x from both sides

⇒ 3x - 2x = 2x - 16 - 2x

⇒ x = -16

Hence, x = −16 is the solution of the equation.\
