Find , in given case, the remainder when : 

`x^4-3x^2+2x+1` is dividend by x-1

Solution

By remainder theorem we know that when a polynomial f (x) is divided by x – a, then the remainder is f(a). 

`f(x)=x^4-3x^2+2x+1` 

Remainder = `f(1)=(1)^4-3(1)^2+2(1)+1=1-3+2+1=1`
