Solution

The maximum strength of the members of the Rajya Sabha or the Council of States is 250 members. Out of the 250 members, 238 are elected by the States in the Union, while 12 are nominated by the President from among persons having special knowledge or practical experience in matters such as literature, science, art and social science.
