Preparation of carbolic acid from Chlorobenzene and steam at 698 K:-
Phenol is obtained by heating chlorobenzene with steam at 698 K using Ca3(PO4)2 or SiO2 as a catalyst. The hydrolysis can also be affected by water in
the presence of copper as a catalyst at 673 K and under pressure.
