Question

Find x and y if `[(4, 3x),(x, -2)][(5), (1)] = [(y),(8)]`

Solution

`[(4, 3x),(x, -2)][(5), (1)] = [(y),(8)]`

`[(20 + 3x),(5x - 2)] = [(y), (8)]`

Comparing the corresponding elements we get

`5x - 2 = 8 => x = 2`

20 + 3x = y => y = 20 + 6 = 26

  Is there an error in this question or solution?
