MCQ

Mark the correct alternative in each of the following:
If x − 2 is a factor of x2 + 3ax − 2a, then a =

• 2

• -2

• 1

• -1

#### Solution

As (x -2)is a factor of  f(x) = x^2 +3ax - 2a

i.e. f(2) = 0

(2)^2 +3a (2) -2a = 0

4 +6a -2a = 0

 = -1
