ConceptLaws of Exponents for Real Numbers

#### Question

Solve the following equation:

3^(x-1)xx5^(2y-3)=225

#### Solution

3^(x-1)xx5^(2y-3)=225

rArr3^(x-1)xx5^(2y-3)=3xx3xx5xx5

rArr3^(x-1)xx5^(2y-3)=3^2xx5^2

⇒ x - 1 = 2 and 2y - 3 = 2

⇒ x = 2 + 1 and 2y = 2 + 3

⇒ x = 3 and 2y = 5

⇒ x = 3 and y = 5/2
