Solution

Quantity of milk : Quantity of waer = 5:2

∴ Quantity of milk = `126 x 5/7 = 90 kg`

=> Quantity of water = 126 - 90 = 36 kg

New ratio = 3 : 2

Let the quantity of water to be added be x kg

Then milk : water  = `90/(36 + 6)`

`90/(36 + x) = 3/2`

=> 180 = 108 + 3x

=> 3x = 72

=> x = 24

Thus quanitiy of water to be added is  24 kg
