Solution

x : y = 4 : 7

`=> x/y = 4/7`

`(3x + 2y)/(5x + y) = (3(x/y) + 2)/(5(x/y) + 1)`      (Dividing each term by y)

`= (3(4/7) + 2)/(5(4/7) + 1)`

`= (12/7 + 2)/(20/7 +1)`

`= (12 + 14)/(20 + 7)`

= `26/27`
