If the effective current in a 50 cycle AC circuit is 5 A, what is the peak value of current? What is the current 1/600 after if was zero?

#### Solution

Data: f = 50 Hz, irms = 5 A, t = 1/600s

The peak value of the current,

"i"_0 = "i"_"rms" sqrt2 = (5)(1.414) = 7.07A

i = "i"_0 sin (2pi"ft")

= 7.07 sin[2pi (50)(1/600)]

= 7.07 sin(pi/6) = (7.07)(0.5)

= 3.535 A
