Sum

If John sells his bicycle for Rs. 637, he will suffer a loss of 9%. For how much should it be sold, if he desires a profit of 5%?

#### Solution

S.P. = Rs. 637, Loss = 9%

∴ C.P. =(100xx"S.P.")/(100-9)

=100/91xx637

= 100 × 7

= Rs. 700

Profit = 5%

S.P. =((100+"Profit"))/100xx"C.P."

S.P. = ((100+5))/100xx700

= 105 × 7

= 735
