Solution

A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}
B = {2, 4, 6, 8}
C = {3, 4, 5, 6}

B ∩ C = {2, 4, 6, 8} ∩ {3, 4, 5, 6}
= {4,6}

A - (B ∩ C) = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} - {4,6}
= {1, 2, 3, 5}

A - B = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} - {2, 4, 6, 8}
= {1, 3, 5}

A -C = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} - {3, 4, 5, 6}
= {1,2}

(A - B) ∪ (A - C) = {1, 3, 5} ∪ {1,2}
 = {1, 2, 3, 5}

∴ A - (B ∩ C) = (A - B) ∪ (A - C)
