 Age groups(in years) Population Number of deaths 0 - 20 40,000 350 20 - 65 65,000 650 65 and above 15,000 x Total ΣP = 1,20,000 ΣD = x + 1000

CDR = 13.4

therefore (Σ"D")/(Σ"P") xx 1000 = 13.4

(x + 1000)/120000 xx 1000 = 13.4

x + 1000 = 13.4 x 120

x + 1000 = 1608

therefore x = 608
