# Find X/Y When X^2 + 6y^2 =5xy - Mathematics

Sum

Find x/y when x^2 + 6y^2 =5xy

#### Solution

x^2 + 6y^2 =5xy

Dividing both sides by y^2 we get

x^2/y^2 + (6y^2)/y^2 = (5xy)/(y^2)

(x/y)^2 + 6 = 5(x/y)

(x/y)^2 - 5(x/y) + 6 = 0

Let x/y = a

a^2 - 5a + 6 = 0

=> (a - 2)(a - 3) = 0

=> a = 2, 3

hence "x"/"y" = 2, 3
