#### Question

Find the volume of a cone whose slant height is 17 cm and radius of base is 8 cm.

#### Solution

Slant height (ℓ) = 17 cm

But,

1^2=r^2+h^2

⇒ h^2=1^2-r^2

⇒ h^2=17^2-8^2

⇒h^2=289-64=225=(15)^2

∴ h=15

Now, volume of cone = 1/3pir^2h

=1/3xx22/7xx8xx8xx15cm^3

=7040/7cm^3

=1005.71cm^3
