Sum

Find total number of distinct possible outcomes n(S) of the following random experiment.
From a group of 4 boys and 3 girls, any two students are selected at random.

#### Solution

Two students are selected at random from a group of 4 boys and 3 girls (total 7)
2 students can be selected from a group of 7 students in 7C2 ways.
∴ n(S) = 7C2 = (7xx6)/(2xx1) = 21
