Given vertices are:

(x1, y1) = (– 8, 4)

(x2, y2) = (– 6, 6)

(x3, y3) = (– 3, 9)

Area of triangle = 1/2 (x_1(y_₂ - y_3) + x_2(y_3 - y_1) + x_3(y_1 - y_2))

= 1/2 (-8(6 - 9) + -6(9 - 4) + -3(4 - 6))

= 1/2 (-8(-3) + -6(5) + -3(-2))

= 1/2 (24 - 30 + 6)

= 1/2 (30 - 30)

= 0 units.
