Solution

 Decomposing: 395 = 400 − 5
Here, a = 400 and b = 5
Using the identity (a − b)2 = a2 − 2ab + b2:
3952 = (400 − 5)2 = 400− 2(400)(5) + 52 = 160000 − 4000 + 25 = 156025
