#### Question

Find the area, in square metres, of the trapezium whose bases and altitude is as under:
bases = 8 m and 60 dm, altitude = 40 dm

#### Solution

Given:
Bases:
8 m
And, 60 dm $=\frac{60}{10}m = 6 m$
Altitude = 40 dm $=\frac{40}{10}m = 4 m$
Area of trapezium $=\frac{1}{2}\times(\text{ Sum of the bases })\times(\text{ Altitude })$
$= \frac{1}{2} \times (8 + 6) m \times (4) m$
$= 28 \times m\times m$
${=28 m}^2$
