$\frac{- 9}{14} + x = - 1$
$\Rightarrow x = - 1 - \frac{- 9}{14}$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{- 14}{14} - \frac{- 9}{14}$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{- 14 - ( - 9)}{14}$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{- 14 + 9}{14}$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{- 5}{14}$
