Factorize  x3  -12x ( x - 4) - 64

Solution

x3  -12x ( x - 4) - 64

= x3 -12x2 + 48x - 64

= ( x)3 - 3 × x2 × 4 + 3 × 42 × x - 43

= ( x - 4)                  [ ∵ a3 - 3a2b + 3ab2 - b3 = (a - b)3]

= ( x - 4)( x - 4)( x - 4)

∴ x3 -12x ( x - 4) - 64 = ( x - 4)( x - 4)( x - 4)
