Describe the events of French Revolution which had influenced the people belonging to other parts of Europe.

The French revolution certainly had a long lasting impact on the people of the Europe. Some of the major events that took place are:-
(a.) The political and constitutional changes that came about in the wake of the French Revolution led to the transfer of sovereignty from the monarchy to a body of French citizens. The revolution declared the supremacy of the people and that the government must represent the will of the people.
(b.) The ideas of liberty and democratic rights were the most important legacy of the French Revolution. The ideals and virtues of liberty, equality and fraternity inspired many movements in the 19th and 20th century throughout the world. The rise of nationalist sentiments in many parts of Europe, women's suffrage movement, etc. are some examples which were based on such ideals.
(c.) The revolution was a fight for equality and justice, to do away with social privileges and establish a society based on merit. It brought about the abolition of serfdom, freed the peasantry and acknowledged the ideas of social, economic and personal liberty.
(d.) Jacobin clubs were set up by students and educated middle class to spread revolutionary ideas.
