An electric kettle connected to the 230 V mains supply draws a current of 10 A. Calculate:

(a) the power of the kettle.
(b) the energy transferred in 1 minute.

Solution

(a) Power, VI =` 230xx 10 = 2300 W`            
(b) Energy transferred in one minute =`pxxt` 

                                                   `=2300wxx60s`  

                                                    `=13800 J` 

                                                    `=138KJ`
