Cationic detergents are quarternary ammonium salts of amines with acetates, chlorides or bromides. Cationic part possesses a long hydrocarbon chain and a positive charge on nitrogen atom.
Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide is a cationic detergent and is used in hair conditioners.
