Solution

Putting `x = sqrt2" and "y = 4sqrt2`  in the L.H.S of the given equation,

`x-2y=sqrt2-2(4sqrt2)`

          `=sqrt2-8sqrt2`

          `=-7sqrt2`

           ≠ 4

L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

`"Therefore, "(sqrt2", "4sqrt2)" is not a solution of this equation."`
