Calculate the temperature to which a gas must be heated, so that the volume triples without any change in pressure. The gas is originally at 57”C and having a volume 150 cc.

#### Solution

V_{1} = 150 cc

T_{1} = (57 + 273) = 330 K

V_{2} = 3 × 150 cc

T_{2} = ?

At constant pressure `"V"_1/"T"_1 = "V"_2/"T"_2`

`therefore "T"_2 = ("V"_2"T"_1)/"V"_1`

T_{2} = `((3 xx 150)xx330)/150` = 990 K

= 990 - 273 = 717°C
