# Calculate the Shortest Wavelength of the Spectral Lines Emitted in Balmer Series. - Physics

Calculate the shortest wavelength of the spectral lines emitted in Balmer series.

[Given Rydberg constant, R = 107 m–1]

#### Solution

For Blamer series, wavelength is given as

1/lambda=R(1/2^2-1/n^2)

For shortest wavelength,

:.1/lambda=R(1/2^2-0)=R/4

=>lambda=4/R=4xx10^-7 m
