Calculate the amplification factor of a triode valve that has plate resistance of 2 kΩ and transconductance of 2 millimho.

Solution

Given:-

Plate resistance,

`r_p=2kOmega`

Transconductance of plate,

`g_m=2"mili mho"=2xx10^-3"mho"`

Therefore, the amplification factor is given as:-

`mu=r_pxxg_m`

`mu=2xx10^3xx2xx10^-3=4`

That is, amplification factor is 4.
