Assuming complete dissociation, calculate the pH of the following solutions: 0.002 M HBr

Solution

0.002 HBr:

`HBr + H_2O ↔ H_3O^+  + Br^-`

`[H_3O^+] = [HBr]`

`=> [H_3O^+] = .002`

`:. pH = - log [H_3O^+]`

= -log(0.002)

= 2.69
