An ultrasonic pulse of 0.09M Hz sends down towards the sea-bed which returns after 0.55 seconds. The velocity of ultrasonic waves in sea water is 1800 m/sec . calculate the depth of sea and wavelength of ultrasonic pulse.

Solution

Given data :- f = 0.09 × 106 Hz, t=0.55 sec , v=1800m/sec.
Formula :- 2d = vt , v = fλ

Solution :-  `d =(vt)/2 = (1800 xx 0.55)/2 = 495 m`

                  `λ = v/t = 1800/(0.09 xx 10^6) = 0.2 A°`

Answer  :-depth of sea = 495m
            Wavelength = 0.2A°
