An object takes 5 s to reach the ground from a height of 5 m on a planet. What is the value of g on the planet?

Solution
Here, u = 0
S = 5 m
t = 5 s
From second equation of motion, we have
\[S = ut + \frac{1}{2}g t^2 \]
\[5 = \frac{1}{2}g(5 )^2 \]
\[g = \frac{10}{25} = 0 . 4 m/ s^2\]
Hence, the value of g on the planet is 0.4 m/s2.
