Question
An object has mass of 20 kg on earth. What will be its (1) mass, and (2) weight, on the moon ? (g on moon = 1.6 m/s2).
Solution
(i) Mass on moon = 20 kg (mass remains constant everywhere)
(ii) W (Weight of the object on moon) = ?
m (mass of the object) = 20kg
g (acceleration due to gravity on moon)= 1.6 m/s2
W= mg
= 20×1.6
= 32 N
Answer: Weight on moon = 32N
