Given A = `[(2,-6),(2,0)], B = [(-3,2),(4,0)], C = [(4,0),(0,2)]`

Find the matrix X such that A + 2X = 2B + C.

Solution

A + 2X = 2B + C

`=> [(2,-6),(2,0)] + 2X = 2[(-3,2),(4,0)] + [(4,0),(0,2)]`

`=> [(2,-6),(2,0)] + 2X= [(-6+4,4+0),(8+0,0+2)]`

`=> [(2,-6),(2,0)] + 2X = [(-2,4),(8,2)]`

`=> 2X = [(-2,4),(8,2)]- [(2,-6),(2,0)] = [(-4,10),(6,2)]`

`=> X = 1/2[(-4,10),(6,2)]`

`=> X = [(-2,5),(3,1)]`
