# A vertical stick 20 cm long casts a shadow 6 cm long on the ground. At the same time, a tower casts a shadow 15 m long on the ground. Find the height of the tower. - Mathematics

Sum

A vertical stick 20 cm long casts a shadow 6 cm long on the ground. At the same time, a tower casts a shadow 15 m long on the ground. Find the height of the tower.

#### Solution

Let the sun’s altitude at that moment be θ.

∆PQM ~ ∆ABC

\Rightarrow \frac{MP}{MQ}=\frac{AC}{CB}

\Rightarrow \frac{h}{15}=\frac{20}{6}

∴ Height of the tower = 50 m.
