Solution

x is selected from 1,2,3 and 4

1,2,3,4

y is selected from 1,4,9 and 16

Let A {1,4,9,16,2,8,18,32,3,12,27,48,36,64} which consists of elements that are product of x and y

P(product of x and y is less than 16) = `"Number of outcomes less than16"/"Total number of outcomes"`

`=7/14`

`=1/2`
