The University College of law was established in 1925. It being the first college in the erstwhile Capital City of C.P. & Berar Province, received tremendous response from all. In the first decade the college the college had achieved many milestones. Sir Vivian Bose was the Principle of the college. Initially the classes were conducted in the premises of the Convocation Hall in University. In Nagpur the branch of the Bombay high Court was established in 1936. Sir Vivian Bose, The then principal of Law College was elevated as judge of the High Court at Nagpur. Sir Vivian Bose was subsequently elevated to the Supreme Court. In the year 1940,the college was shifted in the existing premises. After 1940 the college flourished and prospered. Initially there were part-time teachers who were appointed by Nagpur University, subsequently as the need grew and due to uplifted standard of college the full time teachers were appointed. Presently the College is having a Principal, teachers and many esteemed visiting faculties to cater the need of the students. The Ex-Principal of the college Dr. J. L. Aparajit has provided a dynamic leadership & has shaped the college in its various fields e.g. Academics, cultural, sports & all other associated activities.
The college has an excellent ambiance. Every student is given the fullest opportunity to develop his personality through participation in Sports, Moot Court, N.C.C., N.S.S., Adult and Continuing Education Programme, Cultural and Social Activities along with all the extracurricular activities which are conducted by the college and the University activities interstate & inter college activities.
The institution today is recognized as a premier institution of Central India because of the highly placed alumni this esteemed institution has produced.
