Values of variables for which LHS = RHS are "Solutions" of the equation. 
For example : 2x - 3 = 7
Solution : 
Step 1 :
 Add 3 to both sides. 
2x – 3 + 3 = 7 + 3           (The balance is not disturbed)
or            2x = 10 
Step 2 :Next divide both sides by 2.
`(2x)/2 = 10/2`
or x = 5                              (required solution)
